If you are looking to sell a new device to us, it will need to be sealed in order to fit into the new sealed category. So this means the device is sealed by the manufacturer themselves. We do not buy devices that have been sealed by third parties.

Apple iPhone

For the models from the iPhone 13 range to the latest model, the boxes will have the top and bottom pull seal (photo 1).

For all models older than the iPhone 13 range, apple will have sealed the box with a clear plastic wrap around the box, with a pull seal at the bottom (photo 2).

Samsung Mobile

The Samsung models will be factory sealed in two ways. Newer models from 2023 onwards will have the top and bottom pull seals attached to the back of the retail box (photo 3).

All Samsung models manufactured up to 2022 will have the sticker seals attached to the back of the retail box (photo 4).

Google

All Google models will have the side pull seal on the back of the retail box (photo 5).

Apple iPad

Apple iPads before 2021 will have the cellophane wrap around the box. All iPads from 2021 and onwards match the iPhone and will have the top and bottom pull seal on the back of the box (photo 6).

Samsung Tablet

The Samsung Tablets are sealed similar to the Samsung phones. Models manufactured up to 2022 will have the sticker seals attached to the back of the retail box (photo 4). Then Samsung Tablets 2022 onwards will have the top and bottom pull seals on the back of the retail box (photo 7).

What is Apple Mobile Device Management (MDM), and why do we check its status?

MDM stands for Mobile Device Management. It is a protocol that gives system administrators the ability to manage devices remotely by sending commands from a central server to any device on their network. This software is pre-installed by the manufacturer at the request of a business before the retail box is sealed.

Important Apple Trade-In Rules

⛔ We Do Not Accept:

• Apple devices with pre-installed corporate MDM software. We are completely unable to use these devices because they remain permanently locked to the company that originally set up the profile.

If your device was provided by, owned by, or bought through an employer (past or present), you must contact them before sending it to us.

Please obtain explicit verification from their IT department to confirm that the device is completely free of corporate management software and that all MDM profiles have been permanently removed.

Why We Cannot Accept Apple Devices with Pre-Installed MDM

• Permanent Remote Control: MDM (Mobile Device Management) profiles grant a company’s IT department absolute control over the device. The corporate administrators can remotely lock the phone, wipe its data, track its location, or restrict core features at any time.
• Bricked for Future Users: Even if a device is completely factory reset, the moment it connects to the internet during setup, the Apple servers will automatically force the corporate MDM configuration profile back onto the device. Because the device remains legally and technically tied to the original company, we cannot reuse, resell, or repurpose it.
